The kebbi state Security forces have launched a major search and rescue operation are on top gear following the abduction of the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Sama’ila Bagudo to bring him home safe and alive

The incident occurred on Friday night, October 31, 2025, at about 8:20 p.m. in Bagudo town, Bagudo Local Government Area of Kebbi State. According to police sources, armed bandits wielding sophisticated weapons attacked the area and whisked the 60-year-old lawmaker away shortly after he observed the night (Isha’i) prayers and was heading home.
Following the attack, police tactical units, military personnel, and local vigilante groups were immediately deployed to the scene. Security teams are currently combing suspected bandits’ routes and nearby forest areas in an intensified effort to rescue the lawmaker unharmed and apprehend those behind the crime.
In a statement issued by the Kebbi State Police Command, Commissioner of Police CP Bello M. Sani condemned the abduction and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and continue cooperating with security agencies to ensure peace and security are maintained.
We are working tirelessly and deploying all necessary resources to ensure the safe rescue of the Honourable member and arrest the perpetrators,” the Commisioner of Police assured.
