President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to screen and confirm Kingsley Tochukwu Ude, SAN, from Enugu State, as a ministerial nominee.
The request was conveyed in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Tuesday’s plenary.
Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Committee of the Whole for further legislative action and screening.
Ude’s nomination comes in the wake of the resignation of Uche Nnaji, the former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, who stepped down last month amid controversy surrounding his academic and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates.
Nnaji, the sole ministerial representative from Enugu State in Tinubu’s cabinet, left a vacuum in the federal executive council and rendered Enugu State without a minister until the latest nomination.
