Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, on Wednesday monitored the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses across the state, pledging to work closely with the newly elected party executives to consolidate unity and grassroots development.
The exercise, conducted in all the 225 political wards of the state, was reported to have been peaceful and largely anchored on consensus, reflecting what party leaders described as internal cohesion and political maturity.

The governor, who visited selected venues to observe the process, was accompanied by prominent party stalwarts, including the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu; Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero; the APC National Organising Secretary, Suleiman Muhammad Argungu; and the State APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana-Zuru.

Among the venues visited were Kauran Gwandu Primary School, host of the Nasarawa II Ward Congress, and Justice Ibrahim Umar Primary School, venue of the Marafa Ward Congress, both in Birnin Kebbi.
Addressing party members at Kauran Gwandu Primary School, Idris commended outgoing ward executives for what he described as peaceful stewardship, noting that the transparent conduct of the congresses underscored the unity of the party in the state.
He observed that the presence of senior party figures and representatives from the APC National Headquarters further strengthened the credibility of the exercise, adding that the people of Kebbi remained committed to peaceful and orderly political engagement.

According to him, mutual trust between leaders and the grassroots is vital for stability, assuring the newly elected ward executives of the state government’s readiness to collaborate with them in advancing development across wards and local government areas.

Idris also described the conduct of the congresses on the first day of Ramadan as historic, expressing hope that the peaceful spirit that characterised the exercise would endure throughout subsequent party activities.
Earlier, the State APC Chairman, Kana-Zuru, said consensus was reached after extensive consultations with stakeholders in line with party guidelines and existing laws on tenure limits. He maintained that none of the newly elected ward executives exceeded the permissible tenure and that the absence of petitions or appeals reflected broad-based agreement among party leaders.

Chairman of the Ward Congress Committee from Abuja, Abdulmalik Mahmood, a former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, confirmed that the exercise complied with the APC Constitution, noting that consensus was adopted across the state following due consultations.
He added that the screening, appeal and congress committees were satisfied with the arrangements in Kebbi, commending the state chapter for what he termed exemplary conduct.
Stakeholders from Marafa and Nasarawa II wards lauded the governor’s presence at the congresses, describing it as a demonstration of inclusive leadership, while reaffirming their loyalty to the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC.
