Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has taken the state’s investment drive to the global stage, joining fellow subnational leaders in London for the Kaduna Electric Energy Summit, a high-level forum focused on unlocking capital for Nigeria’s power sector and accelerating regional development.
At the summit, themed “Driving Energy Investment and Regional Development,” Governor Idris engaged in strategic discussions alongside his counterparts Gov ,Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State and Gov, Uba Sani of Kaduna State as well as key industry stakeholders and international investors.

The gathering spotlighted the urgent need to operationalise the Electricity Act 2023, widely seen as a game-changing framework designed to decentralise electricity regulation, encourage private sector participation, and expand access to reliable power across Nigeria’s regions.
For Kebbi, Governor Idris’ presence signals a deliberate push to position the state as an emerging destination for energy investment. With power infrastructure increasingly tied to industrial growth, job creation, and economic competitiveness, the governor’s participation underscores a broader strategy to align Kebbi with national reforms and global investment flows.

Beyond policy dialogue, the London summit offered a crucial platform for subnational leaders to forge partnerships, exchange ideas, and attract financing aimed at revitalising electricity distribution within the Kaduna Electric franchise area a network that serves several northern states.
Analysts note that such engagements reflect a growing recognition among state governments that sustainable development hinges on energy security.

For Kebbi, the stakes are particularly high, as improved electricity supply remains central to unlocking its agricultural and industrial potential.
As deliberations continue, Governor Idris’ outing in London reinforces Kebbi’s intent to move from the periphery of Nigeria’s energy conversation to a more prominent, investment-ready position within the evolving power landscape.
