The Kebbi State Government has officially appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami as the new Emir of Zuru, with the traditional title Sami Gomo III.
The pronouncement was made on Thursday at the Zuru Emir’s Palace by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abubakar Garba Dutsin-Mari who presented the appointment letter signed by Governor Nasir Idris Garkuwan Zuru.
According to the Commissioner, the approval followed the submission of three shortlisted candidates by the Zuru Emirate Council’s Kingmakers, in line with constitutional provisions. Governor Idris, exercising his statutory powers, endorsed Alhaji Sanusi Mikail Sami as the new Emir of Zuru
Earlier, the Sarkin Wasagu, Alhaji Muktari Musa, who served as Acting Emir after the demise of the late Emir, formally received the new Emir and welcomed dignitaries to the palace.
In his acceptance speech, the Emir expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah and to Governor Idris for the confidence reposed in him.
He urged subjects of the Emirate to remain peaceful, loyal, and united, pledging to adopt an open-door policy and inclusive leadership style.
He commended Sarkin Wasagu for his stewardship during the transition period and assured the people of continued service and support.
The Emir also solicited the cooperation and prayers of his subjects for a successful reign.
