The National President of the Customs Officers’ Wives Association (COWA), Mrs. Kikelomo Basheer Adeniyi, has taken the lead in advancing nationwide empowerment programmes for widows, orphans, and vulnerable groups, reaffirming the association’s humanitarian mission.

Speaking at a landmark event in Kebbi State, Mrs. Adeniyi praised the the present Administration for outstanding contributions to women and child welfare, while pledging that COWA under her leadership would deepen its reach across all states of the federation.

The COWA President outlined key initiatives already underway, including support for orphanages, skills acquisition projects, and seed funding for small businesses led by women. She urged Nigerian women to embrace entrepreneurship, no matter how modest, as a means of empowering their families and strengthening communities.

In her remarks, The kebbi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Halima Hassan Kamba, equally expressed appreciation to COWA for its intervention in the state’s only orphanage, calling for sustained partnerships to advance welfare initiatives.

The event, hosted by the Customs Command in Kebbi, attracted dignitaries including the State Comptroller of Customs, traditional leaders, national executives of COWA, and women’s organizations.
