First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged Nigerians to mark her 65th birthday not with gifts or elaborate celebrations, but with donations toward the completion of the National Library of Nigeria.

In a heartfelt video message released ahead of her September 21 birthday, the First Lady said she had chosen to dedicate the day to God and to a cause she holds dear education and literacy.
“By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old… I have decided to dedicate the day to God for all His blessings in my life and have a quiet birthday,” she stated.
Instead of cakes, flowers, or greetings, Mrs. Tinubu appealed to well-wishers to channel their goodwill to the Oluremi at 65 Education Fund, a designated account established by the Federal Ministry of Education in collaboration with Zenith Bank Plc (Account No: 1310314977).
The fund, she explained, will directly support the long-delayed completion of the National Library project, a vital institution for research, learning, and knowledge preservation in the country.
The initiative has stirred public interest and goodwill, reflecting the First Lady’s longstanding advocacy for education and literacy. “My love for education knows no bounds,” she emphasized, underscoring her desire to leave a legacy of learning rather than luxury.
The Oluremi Tinubu Birthday Appeal, observers note, not only shines a light on the importance of libraries and educational infrastructure but also reframes personal celebrations into opportunities for national development.
