The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded a breakthrough in its fight against cattle rustling as operatives in Bachaka apprehended a suspected member of the notorious Lakurawa bandit gang and recovered ten stolen cows.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the suspect, identified as 42-year-old Salihu Umar from Dogon Dutse, Niger Republic, was arrested on August 31, 2025, at the Bachaka cattle market. He was allegedly in possession of ten cows traced to one Usman Aliyu of Zogirma town, Bunza Local Government Area, whose 68 cows were rustled on August 20, 2025.

CP Sani assured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating violent crimes and restoring peace in the state.
He also appealed to the public to remain vigilant and provide security agencies with timely and accurate information to aid prompt response.
