Zuru, local government is situated in the south region of kebbi state, and In the heart of Zuru here comes the New Emir, history has turned a new page. Alhaji Sanusi, a man whose life has been dedicated to healing and service, has been formally installed as the new Emir of Zuru. For the people, his ascension is more than a change of leadership,
it is the rise of a son of the soil whose hands once healed wounds and whose compassion touched countless lives.
Born on November 12, 1968, Emir Sanusi’s journey is a remarkable blend of humility, perseverance, and duty. His early education began at Sami Gomo Primary School (1974–1979), after which he proceeded to Government Science Secondary School, Yabo, Sokoto State (1979–1984). With a strong passion for service,
He pursued professional training at the School of Nursing, Sokoto, where he graduated in 1991 as a qualified nurse.

Upon his return to Zuru, Sanusi worked at the General Hospital, Zuru, where he quickly became known not just as a medical professional but also as a compassionate listener who treated patients with dignity.
“He was not the kind of nurse who saw only sickness; he saw people,” recalls Hali Umar, a retired civil servant in Zuru.

“That humility and care are what we are now bringing to the throne.”
His career later extended to the College of Agriculture, Zuru, where he served as a Senior Staff Nurse and Clinical Officer, mentoring young students and providing healthcare to the community.
For many, his dual roles as a caregiver and teacher reflected the values of sacrifice, knowledge, and community service qualities they believe will now shape his reign as emir.
A Throne Rooted in Tradition, Crowned by Service
The Zuru Emirate, one of the prominent cultural bastions in Kebbi State, is famed for its warrior heritage and deeply cherished traditions.
The choice of Sanusi a professional from the healthcare sector signals what many see as a refreshing blend of tradition and modern leadership.
According to cultural historian within the palace, speaking to the District Head of Ushe Muhammad Yawa , the emir’s enthronement underscores a profound symbolism, he said.
“The emir is no longer only a custodian of customs but also someone who has walked the path of service in the modern world.
He has healed bodies, and now he is called to heal society.”
Voices of Hope
The announcement of Sanusi’s appointment was met with jubilation across Zuru and beyond. Community elders, youth, and women groups have expressed optimism that his leadership will usher in an era of progress.
Fatima Zayyad, a local trader, captured the general sentiment.
“We now have an emir who knows the struggles of ordinary people.
He was once one of us in the hospital, and today, he is our father on the throne.”
Similarly, youth leader Ibrahim Danjuma noted: “His life story teaches us that service to humanity is the highest form of leadership.
We expect him to use his wisdom and compassion to unite our people, especially in these trying times.”
Looking Ahead
As Emir Sanusi assumes his responsibilities, the expectations before him are enormous from preserving Zuru’s cultural pride to addressing modern challenges of youth empowerment, education, and community welfare.
Yet, his track record as a health worker and educator provides a foundation of trust.

For the people of Zuru, the enthronement of Sanusi is more than a royal installation.
It is the coronation of empathy, humility, and humanity the crowning of a man who once held stethoscopes, now holding the staff of office.
In my words as a writer i say “A nurse heals the sick, but now a king heals a nation. May his reign bring healing to Zuru emirate long live the King , long live zuru emirate and long live kebbi state of Nigeria.
