The Yobe State Government, through the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), in collaboration with international humanitarian partners, has delivered more relief materials to hundreds of households affected by floods and farmer herder clashes in Potiskum and Jakusko Local Government Areas.

In Potiskum, SEMA, working with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), reached over 800 households across 11 flood affected communities, including Old Prison, Unguwan Makafi, Filin Nashe/Makarahuta, Jigawa NTA, Ramin Kasa, Yindiski, Ganuwa, Unguwan Jaji B. Kwari, Bubaram, Korafi, Tsangaya, and Uganda/New Prison. Each household received durable tarpaulins to provide shelter and protection against harsh weather conditions, alongside ongoing interventions such as food items, dignity kits, hygiene supplies, and cash assistance.

Similarly, in Jakusko LGA, SEMA in partnership with Action Against Hunger (AAH) concluded the second phase of humanitarian intervention, reaching 267 households in seven communities, including Garin Maji, Samunaka, Katamma, Kambawo, Agana, Jakusko, and Amshi. Beneficiaries received shelter and hygiene kits, complementing an earlier round of unconditional cash assistance to 111 households.

Governor Mai Mala Buni, through SEMA’s coordinated response, has continued to adopt a holistic, multi-sectoral approach that integrates shelter, water and sanitation (WASH), and cash support ensuring that vulnerable families not only receive immediate relief but also a pathway toward recovery and rebuilding livelihoods.
