The Federal Government has inaugurated the governing councils and principal officers of four newly established specialized universities, reaffirming its commitment to tackling pressing national and global challenges through education and research.

Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who presided over the inauguration, said the new institutions would focus on addressing critical issues such as food security, public health, climate change, renewable energy, and technological innovation.
According to him, the universities are designed to serve as engines of local economic growth, centres of community development, and platforms for building human capacity that will enhance national productivity and strengthen global competitiveness.
The universities inaugurated include the Federal University of Agriculture and Technology, Okeho, Oyo State the Federal University of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara Statethe Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano and the Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna State
Dr. Alausa stressed that the establishment of these institutions reflects government’s resolve to invest in knowledge-driven development, while ensuring that education remains central to national progress.
