Yobe State Governor, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has presented a proposed budget of ₦515.5 billion for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly.
Presenting the appropriation bill, titled Budget of ASSURED Prosperity,” on the floor of the Assembly in Damaturu, Governor Buni emphasized the need for efficiency, prudence, and synergy among Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in implementing the budget.
He explained that the proposed budget is designed to consolidate ongoing projects and initiate new ones across critical sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, sports, and security.
According to the Governor, the 2026 budget provides for the construction of a model primary school in each of the state’s 178 political wards and the establishment of a new dialysis center in Gashua.
He further announced plans to construct a new Specialist Hospital in Potiskum and establish an Agency for Persons with Disabilities aimed at reducing street begging and improving social inclusion.
Governor Buni noted that the numerous ongoing and completed projects across sectors underscore his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth, human capital development, and social welfare.
He reaffirmed his administration’s tradition of timely budget presentation and assent describing it as a reflection of his government’s accountability, transparency, and fiscal discipline hallmarks of good governance and responsible financial management.
