In what is being hailed as a groundbreaking moment for inclusion, the Women Rights Initiative (WORI) has commended Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, for establishing the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) Board a step described as historic for equity, protection, and social justice.

At the heart of the celebration is the appointment of Binta Namadi, an educated woman with disability and Amplifying Voices Cohort One Fellow, to the Board’s Executive Council.
For WORI, Namadi’s rise to leadership is living proof that when persons with disabilities are empowered, they do not just participate they lead and shape policies that transform their communities.

“This is more than Binta’s victory; it is a victory for every disabled woman who has fought to be heard, for every community that has demanded inclusion, and for every young girl with disability who dares to dream,” WORI declared.
The organization also called on previously established but inactive commissions to draw closer to government, engage constructively, and seek stronger support to uplift their people.
WORI reaffirmed its commitment to building a Nigeria where representation is no longer the exception but the standard, and where educated women with disabilities take their rightful place in governance and national development.
