Yobe State was thrown into jubilation on Thursday as Governor Mai Mala Buni approved the immediate implementation of the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) and Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for health workers in the state civil service.

The approval, contained in a circular dated 2nd September 2025 and signed by the Head of Service, Alhaji Tonga Betara Bularafa, directed that the new salary tables for health personnel take effect from 17th August 2025.
According to the circular, the implementation covers medical doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals under government payroll, reflecting Governor Buni’s commitment to improving workers’ welfare, boosting morale, and strengthening the health sector in Yobe State.
Health workers across General Hospitals and primary healthcare facilities in the state celebrated the development with songs and dances, describing the governor’s gesture as a bold and compassionate step that would not only improve their livelihoods but also enhance service delivery.
Some of the jubilant workers praised the governor for honoring his promise, stressing that the decision would reduce brain drain, motivate them to give their best, and ensure the people of Yobe State continue to access quality healthcare.
By this gesture, Governor Mai Mala Buni has once again reaffirmed his reputation as a leader who listens, cares, and acts in the best interest of his people.
