The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques worth ₦16.9 million to families of 25 deceased police officers who died in active service.
The presentation, which took place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was conducted by the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani.
According to the Command, the cheques were issued under the Group Life Assurance Scheme and the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, designed to provide financial relief and support to families of officers who lost their lives while on duty.
CP Sani explained that the gesture reflects the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, to improving the welfare of officers and their dependents.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money, particularly in supporting the education of their children.
“The sacrifices of our fallen officers will never be forgotten. This support is part of the IGP’s resolve to ensure that the families of our heroes are not left behind,” the CP stated.
One of the beneficiaries, Mal. Abbas Ibrahim, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed gratitude to the IGP and the police authorities, describing the financial support as timely and impactful in easing the burden left by the loss of their loved ones.
The total sum disbursed amounted to ₦16,945,238.34. shared and prayer offer there soul to rest in peace.
