The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested four individuals linked to a motorcycle snatching syndicate and apprehended two receivers of stolen property, recovering three stolen motorcycles in the process.

The latest operation stems from a complaint filed in August 2025 by Aminu Umar, a resident of Al’amin Villa in Kalgo, who reported the theft of his unregistered black Haijue motorcycle. Following his report, a team of detectives launched an investigation that led them to identify suspects Tirmizi Tukur, Abubakar Lauwali, Mudassiru Danbala, and Ibrahim Sani, all male, as key players in the crime.
Acting on credible intelligence, officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters in Kalgo executed a raid on a suspected hideout, resulting in the successful apprehension of the suspects. During the operation, two additional unregistered red Bajaj motorcycles were seized. Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to stealing the motorcycles from Kajiji village in Tambuwal Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Moreover, the police also arrested two individuals, Samaila Abubakar and Isah Muhammad, both residents of Tambuwal town, for their involvement as receivers of the stolen property. Another red Bajaj motorcycle was recovered during this operation.

The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation, with the aim of uncovering the syndicate’s operational methods and apprehending any remaining accomplices.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the efforts of the Divisional Police Officer in Kalgo for their professionalism during the arrests. He reiterated the command’s commitment to combatting violent crime and ensuring a secure environment for the socio-economic activities of the state.
CP Sani urged motorcyclists to remain vigilant regarding the times, locations, and individuals they associate with during their daily operations to mitigate the risk of theft.
