In a bold move to curb unemployment and promote environmental sustainability, the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with the Women Rights Initiative (WORI) has trained youths, women and persons with disabilities in skills acquisition and green world initiatives, including tree planting, in Birnin Kebbi.

The training, led by WORI founder, Dr. Laiatu Augustine Bamaiyi , focused on empowering participants with practical skills in costume design, perfume production, and Vaseline making initiatives aimed at keeping young people off the streets and equipping them for self reliance.

Speaking at the event, the NEPC coordinator emphasized the importance of entrepreneurship and sensitized participants on the benefits of business registration with the Council to enable them to access numerous opportunities locally and internationally amongst other.

Also lending his voice, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, urged beneficiaries to put their training into action, stressing that enterprise development is key to reducing hardship and building sustainable livelihoods.

The event showcased an exhibition of locally made handcrafts and concluded with the distribution of plant seeds to 150 women from the Danalkali Foundation, further underscoring the link between self-reliance and environmental care within the community.
