The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, alongside other prominent stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a set of conditions to guide the party towards a credible and successful national convention.

In a communiqué read by former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, after a meeting convened by Wike in Abuja on Monday night, the group under the banner Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders
stressed that equity, justice, inclusivity, and rule of law must remain the pillars of the PDP.
The leaders reaffirmed their position on internal democracy, insisting that only open, transparent, and competitive processes would guarantee regional balance and sustain the party’s long-standing traditions.
Among their six-point resolutions, the stakeholders demanded:
- Fresh, transparent, and inclusive congresses in Ebonyi and Anambra States, in compliance with subsisting court rulings.
- A fresh and legitimate Zonal Congress in the South-East.
- Full recognition of the South-South Congress held in Calabar, Cross River State, as validated by the court.
- Immediate conduct of the Ekiti State Local Government Congresses in obedience to court judgment.
- Strict adherence to the zoning arrangement adopted at the 2021 convention, with the National Chairman retained in the North-Central.
- A rejection of any form of micro-zoning, which they warned could destabilize the party.
The communiqué cautioned that failure to implement these demands could jeopardize the legitimacy of the forthcoming national convention.
