The Kebbi State Police Command has arraigned an alleged armed robbery suspect, Shafiu Atiku, before a court inmg h Birnin Kebbi over the forceful dispossession of a commercial motorcyclist of his motorcycle.
The suspect, a resident of Arewa Local Government Area, was arrested on January 15, 2026, at about 7:30 p.m., following an alleged attack on a commercial motorcyclist, identified as Jafar, along the Bypass Road in Birnin Kebbi.
According to the police, Atiku allegedly assaulted the victim with a machete and a knife before dispossessing him of his Bajaj motorcycle while he was lawfully engaged in his commercial activity.
The Police Command, while confirming the arraignment, advised commercial motorcyclists bparticularly those operating at night to exercise heightened caution and avoid conveying suspicious individuals to isolated locations, noting that such situations have in the past led to loss of lives and property.
The Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Mohammed Hadeija, psc, MNIM, reassured members of the public of its sustained commitment to public safety and security across the state.
It also urged residents to promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the nearest police station to enable swift response and crime prevention.
