Angry youths in Ibeto town, Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, have blocked a major federal road to protest the unending bandit attacks that have terrorized their community for months.
The blockade, which has brought movement in and out of the area to a standstill, is a show of frustration over what the residents describe as government neglect in addressing the worsening insecurity.
GlobaltimeNews gathered that the protesters vowed not to reopen the road until authorities take decisive steps to end the daily assaults by armed bandits.

According to sources, the community has endured over three months of continuous raids, leading to killings, abductions, and mass displacement.
The protesters accused political leaders of abandoning them, prioritizing personal interests over public safety.
The youths also threatened to disrupt the 2027 elections in the area if their cries for help continue to be ignored.

They expressed fears for the safety of the elderly and other vulnerable groups who are often the worst hit during attacks.
“We have been pushed to the wall. If the government fails to act now, we’ll be forced to defend ourselves,” one of the protesters warned.
As of press time, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, said efforts to reach the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the area were unsuccessful due to poor network connectivity.
